Transfer from the city to Cobán;
this city conserves a traditional ambiance and several ancient buildings.
Visit Quetzal Bird Reserve, located in Purulhá, which is
the best example of a managed system out of all natural communities
of sub-tropical mountain climates in the country. The Mario Dary
Biotope Preserve was created to protect the Quetzal, the national
bird and symbol of Guatemala. The Biotope offers two nature paths
through the cloud forest on the mountains, which reaches 2,300 meters
above sea. The vegetation is wide-leaf and pine trees with orchids,
moss, ferns and bromelias in abundance. Sometimes the Quetzal can

In the morning, transfer to visit coffee
plantations and orchid fields,. The plantation field has along 750
varieties and more than 60,000 specimens, (including
the Monja Blanca, Guatemala’s national flower).

the Atlantic Ocean and Izabal Lake; which expands around 42 Kilometers

Visit San Felipe Castle, historical monument that was build during
the XVI century to prevent the attack from pirates. Continue to

Travel back to Guatemala City with a stop
on Quirigua, to visit the Archaeological Site, founded during the
Late Pre-Classic period. The site contains the largest stelae ever
discovered in the Mayan world. It is one of the smallest Mayan cities,
but yet one of the most notable due to its splendid series of monuments.
Nine stelae are arranged around the central plaza, accompanied by
altars carved into zoomorphic shapes. The largest one, Stelae E,
is eight meters tall.
